Reliability is designed in to every Coolbreeze
Coolbreeze has a design philosophy that reliability should be foremost in every design decision made. The outcome of this pursuit of reliability has been a warranty repair level the lowest in the ducted evaporative cooling industry. Ask our dealers about our service response times and you will be assured that these times would not be possible without exceptional reliability built in to every Coolbreeze unit.
Magnet Water Level Sensing
This innovation relates to how the system knows when more water needs to be added to the airconditioner.
Before this invention, a float valve was used. These float valves rely on a float to lift an arm as the water level is increased, applying pressure to a rubber washer to stop the flow of water. We do not know of a float valve available today that does not require this washer changed periodically, and it is considered a consumable item by some brands of airconditoners, and is not covered by warranty. Other items effected by this type of water level system is the water inlet solenoid valve and the water circulation pump. With the old way of setting the water level, the solenoid is permanently powered when the airconditioner is turned on, not only when the system requires water. By having the solenoid powered on all the time, this uses up the life of the solenoid, causing it to fail sooner. When a pump operates with too low a water level, it sucks in air, causing an extreme variance on the load on the pump. We believe this cavitation shortens the life of the pump.
With the unique Coolbreeze Magnet Water Level Sensor, We guarantee that the water level in your unit will never need adjustment! As there is no washer to wear in our water level sensor, we have totally eliminated the possibility of this failure as well. The solenoid is only powered when the unit requires more water, and best of all, the pump is turned off when the water level is too low.
Our system works on the principle that a magnetic field in a permanent magnet is constant. We use a sensor to measure this magnet field to determine the water level in the unit and then turn on the water inlet solenoid only when water is required.
Our system is so simple and so reliable.
All Polymer Casing
Coolbreeze were one of the first brands of cooling system to produce an all polymer cabinet. We cant believe that some brands are still using metal in their cabinets! All metal corrodes, but worse is metal fatigue.
Because the metal is included in these systems to provide support to motors, or to provide structure to the units, metal fatigue is a major issue. Metal also transfers vibrations, making units with metal in their cabinets noisier.
It is important not to choose just any polymer. Some brands use polypropylene, as it is amongst the cheapest forms of plastic available. Coolbreeze uses only Luran S, a BASF engineering polymer designed specifically for outdoor applications. This polymer is used in the manufacture of car parts, including bumper bars and car dashboards! We are confident that this polymer is the best product available for aircondioning casings as it also has another unique property, it is flexible, but retains its shape. Units made from rigid polypropylene transfer vibration, leading to noisier units, and amazingly polypropylene units have nylon added to add to the rigidity of the unit! Luran S units absorb vibrations, leading to quieter installs.
Counter Weight Drain Valve.
The hardest and most unreliable system introduced to evaporative cooling is the system to allow the water to be drained from the sump as required. there have been numerous systems designed to achieve this. Some rely on water pressure to hold a valve shut, and we found these types of systems failed because the water inlet solenoid needs to be powered on at all times, and the valves split under high pressure. Others rely on actuators to lift or lower a plunger or tube to allow water to escape from the units. We believe the use of a separate electronic actuator in the unit adds a point of failure, as they all will eventually fail, and thin flexible spouts will split.
Coolbreeze revolutionised the drain valve with its exclusive patented counter weight drain valve. This system works on the principle of the weight of water and a leverage system to close the valve. As long as there is gravity, this valve will not fail.
Automatic Temperature Control
Coolbreeze were the first brand, and are currently the only brand of evaporative airconditioner to allow the system to be turned on once at the start of the season, and then turned off at the end of the season with no user intervention required.
This feat has been achieved by the introduction of the automatic temperature sensing keypad, the QA. You set your desired temperature and the keypad will automatically increase and decrease the an speed, replenish and refresh the water and switch the system on and off as the day gets hotter and cooler.
Superior Fan Design
The exclusive Powerflow fan on every large Coolbreeze system. This fan provides more air against greater pressure than any other domestic evaporative cooler. When we turn our airflow down to the same as that of our opposition, the Coolbreeze system will also be quieter! This amazing achievement has been accomplished by the addition of golf ball like dimples on our fan, and a special curved fan blade to scoop more air. The powerflow fan also has 9 large thick blades, not 8 or 5. Obviously each fan will need to be closely matched to the motor that drives it. Coolbreeze uses three different fans, and closely couples them to three separate motor sizes to achieve the correct airflow for each system.
Exclusive Exhaust Mode
Only Coolbreeze allows the fan to be reversed in the air conditioner, enabling the system to operate as a whole of home exhaust fan. Great to exhaust all that hot air out of your home prior to cooling your house (and also great when you burn toast).
Water Management Program
Whilst it is important to have reliable individual components, Coolbreeze believe it is how the whole system works together that adds to reliability.
The components of the Coolbreeze Water Management System are:
- Electronic controller
- Magnet Water Level Sensor
- Counter Weight Drain Valve
- Water Inlet Solenoid
- Water Circulation Pump
These components are all the best that can be designed to preform their individual functions; it is the unique Water Management Program in every Coolbreeze electronic control that really adds to system reliability.
Some brands have probes to sense when to drain water from their unit. Coolbreeze know that these metal probes will corrode over time and will lead to unreliable water management. This is evident in systems with large amounts of white calcification on the outside of their cabinets, in some cases extending all around the unit on the roof. Coolbreeze believe the only reliable method to determine when to drain the water is on a timer system. This system allows for the local dealer, knowing the quality of the water in their region, to set the drain interval, in some cases up to 48 hours should the unit be installed directly on a rainwater tank.
Coolbreeze have a pre-start wash, to remove any pollen or dust that may have gathered on the pads since the last use. This water is then drained from the system.
Coolbreeze are the only brand of air conditioner to have a post cool flush system. at the end of each use, the water is drained from the sump, and then fresh water is introduced. This fresh water is circulated around the system for 5 minutes to remove any contaminants that may have build up while the system was in use. It is this post cool flush that extends the life of the Coolbreeze pads, through removing calcium buildup off the pads, prior to them being able to dry out and become rock hard. The water used for this post cool flush is drained from the unit to allow the unit to dry out ready for its next use.
Some brands allow for water to be stored in their sump for up to three days! This is thought of as a water saving measure. The downside of this system is that it is possible for a system to go an entire summer and never totally dry out. This will allow bacteria and algae to develop in the unit, and then to survive the entire season, growing larger and larger. This leads to the requirement to have the unit cleaned out on a once a year basis. Coolbreeze believe it is better o drain the 11 liters of water and to allow the sump to totally dry out after every use. This ensures a hygienic system, ready for the next use.
Pressurised Water Distribution System
Many systems exist to distribute water across the cooling pads of an evaporative cooler. Only Coolbreeze uses a flush through pressurised water distribution system with a downward flowing water path.
The advantages of the Coolbreeze system are that it allows any contaminants to flow through the water manifold, guaranteeing it never blocks. Other systems without this flow through system block, causing uneven water distribution. The flow through hole is larger than the holes in the water circulation pump filter basket, nothing can enter this water distribution system that is large enough to block the distribution holes.
One common method to distribute water across the filter pads is via an aqua-duct style system, requiring a multitude of pipes to evenly split the water and allow even distribution. It is our experience that these style of systems require special attention on installation to ensure even water distribution. It is just one more thing to go wrong. Coolbreeze systems have a large window of even water distribution, ensuring simple installation and years of even, blockage free water distribution.
